For ALL there are FISH probes available for differential diagnosis, similarly PCR is also done to pick up chromosome rearrangements. Spectral karyotyping can be useful if chromosome preparations are very satisfactory in terms of number and spreads, which is generally a challenge, also cost wise it will be very high. It is a good idea to use GTG banded karyotype as a first tier, use FISH &/or Spectral Karyotyping to solve the queries; be it service lab or research lab. ALL chromosome studies can be very informative when combination of right tools of cytogenetics and molecular biology are optimized for each case, with the black and white GTG banded karyotype as a basis.
