What is the effect of acidic enviroment on plasmon absorbance in sensors?

for a glucose plasmon sensor when we increase density of glucose we exprience more acidic enviroment and then plasmon absorbances happen at higher frequencies we think this phenomena is due to the increse in free electron at metal surface but we coulden't achieve a perfect explain for this increase . what is the the reason ?
