The main advantage of Filter Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC) modulation technique over Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation technique is that the spectrum of the sub-channels is much more concentrated for FBMC than for OFDM.

FMBC – stands for Fixed Mobile & Broadcast Convergence.

OFDM offers a lower complexity. FBMC offers a higher bandwidth efficiency. OFDM provides full flexibility for MIMO system. FBMC can be used in certain MIMO setups.Excellent filtering of sub carriers in FBMC makes it an ideal choice for cognitive radios. FBMC can be optimized to match doubly dispersive channels. OFDM/filtered OFDM is a poor fit.
