To simulate the bond slip; it is better to use linkage elements (spring elements) one parallel to the bar (at the interface between the steel bar and concrete) and the second one perpendicular to bar axis and simulating the dowel action.
You can refer to the papers by A.Nilson published in the early seventies of the last century, and the papers by Fardis et al. These papers present bond stress-slip relationships and used by many researchers in nonlinear finite element analysis.
