We wish to rapidely know the fauna biodiversity in a woody ecosystem and we need to use a rapid method to count and list animals like small mammals, insects, etc. Inventory sheets or publication to study fauna diversity in a given ecosystem are welcome. Thanks.
Dear Albert, inevitably you will need a set of methods for each taxon. A good research team to each taxon is also desirable. Both are undoubtedly fundamental. Recently I and my colleagues run an inventory of fauna (some vertebrate groups) in a private protected area. The manuscripts may help and guide you (see below). In any case, the combination of methods will minimize the short time. However, data collected in a short time needs to be always considered as preliminary.

An additional suggestion: Southwood’s Ecological methods (currently Henderson & Southwood, 4th edition, 2016), where various sampling techniques (applicable to different taxonomic groups) are presented and discussed.
