I've sent my article to one of the international journal of engineering. The journal is included in Scopus database, it publishes the articles for free. After the journal team reviewing my article, I've resubmitted the article with corrections and shortly in profile it appeared as a comment of the journal team that "... the paper may be published now in its revised /present form". The three and a half months passed away since then, but, nevertheless, the status of the article is still unchanged ("needs correction"). Can anyone tell me if it's normal or not? What is the procedure applied by journals in this case and what is timetable of the journal official decision of article acceptance/rejection? I wrote letters to the journal but it left unanswered. Thank you in advance!
Yes Alexander - Ian is correct. Sounds like an administrative error.
If you email the editor - and they do not respond - then try the 'next person in command'. Eventually, you will hear from someone. Once a journal article is accepted - then the process to get it to copy-editing, type-setting and proof is normally within 1 month or sooner. Journals like to get their accepted 'in press' articles online as soon as possible.
Somebody forgot to update the status of your paper. Follow up aggressively by E-mail. If necessary contact the editor.

Unfortunately, though situations like this are not normal, they are quite common in my experience. If the journal is published by on of the larger publishing companies, they will have a journal manager. As Dean suggests, if the editor is not responding, then write to the manager and any assistant or associate editor listed by the journal.

Thank you all for your valuable answers, it very encourages me! The journal webpage provides only names of members of editorial boards without their e-mails. But I've found almost all of them in another webpages (including ResearchGate). I will try to send letters to their personal e-mail (I hope it will not be nasty).

After the letters being sending to the members of editorial board, it appeared that there was some technical fault with my account and it was fixed. Now, the status of my article is "accepted". A collaborative article is accepted and published online but authors'name are not written correctly. The editors are emailed by the corresponding author with the request to kindly write the authors'name properly. The editors seem to forget to update the status of the online edition of the article with correct authors's name. Hopefully, they will rectify it soon.
