Then, you can define data mining as a set of methods for analyzing patterns and models with application ranging from business intelligence to research on behavior genetics.
If you want to use the data mining on behavioral genetics, both Cluster analysis and classification could be the first studying. We usually collect the samples and define the class to each sample. Cluster analysis is used when you cannot define the class among samples; otherwise, classification. The classification combined with feature selection can help us to detect which factors are important for this topic. Moreover, it can help us to determine the class when an unknown sample is obtained.
Data mining is a new and growing field. You cam use data mining to detect patterns in large and noisy data using machine learning algorithms.
