I am looking for inorganic materials which emit NIR in the range of 4 to 5 micron. Nanoprticles, nanorod?? How long would gold nanorod be to have plasmon band at such range?
Solid state lasers - but I don't think that this is your actual question. See: http://www.laserfocusworld.com/articles/print/volume-34/issue-11/world-news/opos-tune-solid-state-cw-lasers-from-3-to-5-microns.html
By the way, NIR is usually considered to be the region from 700 nm to 2500 nm approximately, although there is debate over definitions. I'd be considering your region as mid-IR (or thermal IR). See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrared
