I don't understand the notation used in transition t1 of this Petri Net. In particular what is the meaning of the 2 arcs going from the same place p1 into the transition t1? I've seen other examples of this but the behaviour of the transition seems as if only one arc would be present.
Hi, Paolo Scattolin , in the colored Petri Nets there could be different condition for triggering the transition. The way p1-t1-p1 looks like some counter is introduced there.
For example, look at my example from my paper Article SIP Network Parameters Evaluation using Coloured Petri Nets
the position Size has two output arcs, arc to Stop transition is only counter that actually can be implemented on the Buffer side.
I am not an expert on Petri Nets but I read this example as follows:
- transition t1 can fire, when there are 2 tokens in place p1.
- upon firing one of the tokens returns to p1
- the other token is transferred to p2
So in the end, 1 token gets transferred from p1 to p2, but only when the number of initial tokens in p1 is larger than 1.
Depends what the figure is intended to show but it will take 2 tokens from p1 when triggering the t1 transition, since this transition also takes one token from p2 the final diferrence in the p1 will be only -1 token. Since there is one arc from t1 to p2 from p1 and the multiplicity is by default 1 the second token taken from p1 will dissapear and p2 will gain only one token.
