You can read Capital Budgeting - Financial Appraisal of Investment Project by Don Dayananda, Richard Irons, Steve Harrison, John Herbohn & Patrick Rowland.

Since you are required to consider a large number of studies, I would also suggest you factor in risks associated with supply chain- these are critical in large projects. A good starting point could be Chopra and Sodhi's 2004 model: Managing Risk to Avoid Supply-Chain Breakdown.

I suggest checking out the ASCE/ISI - Envision System. The general idea of risk even from the perspective of enterprise risk management can miss understanding of secondary impacts. The publications on sustainability and trap avoidance for sustainable solutions can produce some of these examples you are looking for.
