The topic for discussion is to hear out from experts and researchers that what they think of surge in Artificial Intelligence and Automation, will it create more jobs like the Early 2000s, the rise or Information Age or will it be something different and lead to destroying jobs of multiple people and groups, and create a pool of unemployment?
Well what I think is - This time something different will happen, People might lose their jobs if they fail to upskill, not limited to AI domain but in any expertise or background, and one needs to be technologically strong like using digital tools for efficiently managing the work to be retained and not replaced! It will be no different than the transitions we’ve had before. So it is useful, as a point of comparison, to consider the transitions and up-skilling that occurred going into the industrial revolution and the digital revolution.
Certainly, those who up-skill with AI will have advantages in employment and entrepreneurship. And yes, some will lose jobs. But overall, it will be a more productive and efficient world, and many new jobs, business opportunities, and industries will be created.
One last thing to consider is the role the new AI economy will play to rebalance the trend in global population decline.
