yes, this is a good idea because arXiv and google scholar services are complementary - the first one focuses on storing and sharing papers while the second on searching and measuring of impact. It is a good idea not always to compete but also to collaborate, and we, as scientists, should know this very well :)

What looks particularly surprising is the fact that this feature is not (yet?) mentioned in the arXiv's what's new pages while a similar in its goal yet by no means identical feature for the CS preprints, Bibliographic Explorer, is mentioned in an arXiv's tweet https://twitter.com/arxiv/status/1045695620533694465 .
