the following publication provides several examples of blockchain use in education:
Alexander Grech; Anthony F. Camilleri: Blockchain in Education; European Union, 2017: DOI:10.2760/60649 https://www.pedocs.de/volltexte/2018/15013/pdf/Grech_Camilleri_2017_Blockchain_in_Education.pdf
Actually Blockchain Technology provides two interfaces: one is its application interfaces using smart contracts; another is its front-end using NodeJS etc. So ,by inserting informations into the front-end part ;then by connecting its application interfaces i.e. used by smart contracts ;one can keep and share academic records with very high efficiency .As because ,it is a decentralized and applicable to peer-to-peer networking protocol technology ;blockchain technology has certainly potential benefits to keep and share academic records in a verifiable and flexible way.
Thank you very much for the short and substantial contribution, short and sweet, as treats have to be.
I am new to blockchain technology and wonder what would be a good book to read on the subject, to get both, technical and application insights. I have seen some courses from Berkeley and the Linux foundation at edx, but I am not sure if those are the fast track to get into the subject.
if you want to start with brief and free course, which is very good, I would recommend taking the Blockchain Basics from Uni Buffalo https://www.coursera.org/learn/blockchain-basics.
Further, regarding keeping and sharing academic records, there are some universities and companies which already provide that, the first and very well-known was University of Nicosia. https://www.unic.ac.cy/blockchain/ They also provide a free MOOC, however starting only in September.
Some of the examples of using blockchain in education are listed also here https://builtin.com/blockchain/blockchain-education.
Last but not least, a very good paper on storing educational records on blockchain is here Article EduRSS:A Blockchain-Based Educational Records Secure Storage...
, however, you need at least basic knowledge of the technology, so I would recommend you starting with the Uni Buffalo course.
