Opatha, & Teong, (2014) point out that a virtue is a good habit and a good attribute that is useful for a person him/herself and other persons. Solomon (1999) states that virtue is an essential aspect of an individual. Solomon (1999) further states that the concept of virtues provides the conceptual linkage between an individual and his/her society.

Contrary to popular imagination, the Mongols were not just masters of conquest, but possessed a genius for progressive and benevolent rule. Genghis Khan was an innovative leader, the first ruler in many countries to put the power of law above his own power, encourage religious freedom, create public schools, grant diplomat immunity, abolish torture, and institute free trade. The trade routes he created became lucrative pathways for commerce, but also for ideas, technologies, and expertise that transformed the way people lived. The Mongols also introduced the first international paper currency and postal system. They developed and spread revolutionary technologies like printing, the cannon, compass, and abacus. Furthermore, they took local foods and products like lemons, carrots, noodles, tea, rugs, playing cards, and plants and turned them into staples of life around the world. The Mongols were the architects of a new way of life at a pivotal time in history.

4-Essay on Ancient American Civilizations
Ancient American Civilizations Cultural development can be separated into three categories of increasing intellect and complexity. Tribal is the lowest form of civilization, Chiefdom the intermediate level, and finally the state level, which represents the highest form of civilization in Ancient America. The tribal band represented the basic primitive level of civilization. In Ancient America, the tribal level was a loose association of bands or villages.

The civilization of Caral is one of the few civilizations of the ancient world that has placed women in a position of high rank. In my opinion this is a great contribution, because it shows the degree of development of the concept they had on gender equality, and the important role that women played in the development of this civilization.
The early man's quest to satisfy the basic necessities of life gave birth to the various artistic creations in Art, Science, Engineering and other fields of learning: Architecture, Painting, Sculpture, Textiles, Ceramics, Pottery, Basketry, and others.
The bravery, high sense of innovation and determination to find effective ways of solving the problems of mankind is a remarkable path all serious scholars and researchers must walk. Indeed, we need to comb the cultural precepts and ingenuity of the industrous early men and women for flag points for remedying the perplexing challenges of today!
Interesting question, and in my opinion making rules is the most important contribution made by ancient civilizations, because without rules the life would become a chaos.

There is no uncertainty that ancient civilizations made noteworthy and important contributions in all areas of life for humankind. These assistances allowed humans to develop and function better in their daily lives; thus societies managed to make big leaps in their economic and political development, as well as cultural production and their religion, whilst simultaneously leaving a legacy in evolutionary history for future generations.
one singular contribution that has been benefical to us in this modern world are the scientific philosophy they strated and held on till we seen to have come to enhance it.
Amir, you pointed a very good question because it involves a huge amount of researchers of many different knowledges, but why only Asia, Europe and Africa?, what about America? For that answer we could talk about the ancient structures of the mayas, the agriculture systems like chinampas of the mexicas, the knowledges preserved in the different ancient codexs like herb medicine, language, astronomy, economy, and many more. We can talk about the engineering of the water systems of Tezcutzingo or Mexico's City prehispanic form; even the nahua phylosophy and poetry has an unique eco in ancient history. I agree that is a very important theme to learn about because is who we are as part of a country, a continent, but above all we are part of the same world and it needs us, united as a strong force to mantain it so we continue to talk about our present, past and ancient knowledges to the next generations.
I think your question is such a big research to do, I mean first you would have to recognize all the traditions or cultural processes that exist today and by them do a research one by one that explains where it comes from, I will give you an example... we think nowadays that Rome and Greece are the only two cultures that have contributed but all of the cultures have left something (of course that has changed by the time the way the things were used (that is what we called evolution), I mean the calendar was evolved by different cultures, in different contexts and gave us what we have nowadays...
Dear Rubén Cervantes Hernández - I agree with you. This is why the responses and perspectives shared thus far, are truly fascinating and enlightening. Thank you for sharing your observations. Amir
As one of the "civilizations", the Sumerians ( 3000 B.C. ) contributed much to the world. (The Sumerians were the first group to settle in what we call Mesopotamia, which means "between two rivers", located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in modern-day Iraq. )
1. Cuneiform. Cuneiform is the earliest form of writing. Cuneiform is made up of a series of wedges and lines carved into wet clay with a stylus.
2. Irrigation. The Sumerians used irrigation for agricultural growth. They were able to harness enough water during the hot drought seasons to survive year round. One of the unfortunate environmental consequences was seasonal flooding, so the Sumerians also developed water transport systems to bypass the northern flood waters.
3. City-states. The Sumerians formed dozens of city-states that served as urban centers. The city-states often went to war against one another.
4. Monumental architecture. The Sumerians used mud-dried bricks to create architecture that was used for religious and political purposes. The ziggurat was a Sumerian pyramid used for religious purposes.
5. The number system based on 10, 60, and 360. We still use this system today- 60 minutes in an hour, a circle has 360 degrees, etc.
Knowledge of the evolution of civilisation would point out that every society, nation, region, in our world, contributed to human civilisation at a particular historical epoch. I pointed this out on the discussion on Africa's developmental challenges. The contributions of ancient civilisations in every aspect of human life, laid the foundation for what the present generation is benefiting and developing for common good and for future generations to enjoy and build upon. Societies, nations, and regions should identify their unique contributions to civilisation, and work harder to consolidate it and explore other spheres. The lesson of human civilisation is that humanity is one, and should continue to add value to it to foster our humanness, collectively.
In this discussion, contribution meant value addition to civilisation. History is documentation and reporting about past events. Even what happened yesterday is history today. For instance, in the ancient Igbo city-state, in the present South-East region of Nigeria, their system of government was direct participatory democracy; every male adult participate in decision-making. The role of women was conflict resolution among women and community market management. The youth had the responsibility to manage security and community road maintenance. The elders are the custodians of culture and tradition, maintaining community peace and order, advisory roles among others.Even today, these values are part of Igbo culture.
The Igbo culture contributed or added value to world civilisation on democracy, because today, as a result of population explosion, migration, expansion, direct participatory democracy is replaced with representative democracy. Again, today, the world is clamouring for inclusive governance which had been the practice in Igbo city-state. These are some of the contributions or values the Igbo nation added to civilisation.
Farming was the early civilizations main food source, making agriculture a big part of the development of the civilizations. Without farming, they would have nothing to eat. Without farmers today we would have nothing to eat and not many people consider that. Our country eats so much meat and drinks a lot of milk and that all comes from farmers who provide us with it Trade
Religion
Culture is what really created a civilization. Although some cultures were based off one another, like the Romans based theirs off the Greeks. Culture can be philosophical or practical. This still stands true today. Culture makes up a big part of the way we see other countries and there can many cultures in one country and there's so much amazing diversity in the world now.
Ancient Indian civilization pioneered many of today's most important achievements. Ancient India was home to two of the world’s first cities, Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro with excellent architectural constructions including stone buildings, multiply stories, and sewage systems. The country had been one of the very first civilizations to use algebra and calculus. The number zero was invented in Ancient India by Aryabhatta who created a decimal system that revolutionized arithmetic, algebra and trigonometry; discovered the earth moves around the sun and the moon orbits the earth; and more accurately estimated the Earth’s circumference than anyone in ancient Greece. Sushruta, the Father of Surgery and Ophthalmology not only wrote a complete volume of ophthalmologic diseases which included signs, symptoms, prognosis, and interventions but he also performed some of the very first cataract surgeries in the world. In addition to scientific achievements, Ancient India was the birthplace of two of today’s most widely practiced religions, Hinduism and Buddhism.
The ancient Arab civilization provided humanity with the best scientific achievements of its golden age, when cities such as Baghdad, Cairo, Damascus, Kairouan, Fes and Cordoba were full of scientists, inventors and skilled craftsmen who provided many scientific theories to which we live today.
The ancient civilization reflects the contribution of the people in scientific and in other sectors in the old cities. This create activity in the young people to carry on the achievements.
Most part of contributions made/ legacy by ancient civilizations – as writing system, ancient architecture, philosophy, mathematics, astronomy and medicine, and others – has already been pointed out by RG colleagues.
I, on my part, would like to mention the invention of the art of memory (ars memoriae), assigned to Simonides of Ceos (c. 477 before Christ), in the preSocratic age. After Simonides the art of memory has undergone several changes (with other contributers), throughout the following centuries, but has played an important role in the western culture, mainly during the Middle Ages, Renaissance and at the beginning of the XVII century.
The civilization of Mesopotamia and the Nile Valley is the first civilization that invented writing and agriculture and was creative in all sciences and arts
There is no doubt that ancient civilizations made significant and important contributions in all fields of life for humankind. These contributions allowed humans to develop and function better in their daily lives; thus societies managed to make big leaps in their economic and political development, as well as cultural production and their religion, whilst simultaneously leaving a legacy in evolutionary history for future generations. This consequently causes specialization and modernization, which eases such operations even more. Below is a list of some of these contributions.

Religion is one of the main long lasting contributions of ancient civilization which helped give the people something to believe in and not have to feel lost in a world that was new to them. The different religions really shaped each country and helped with the expansion of others. In modern times, the same writings are still practiced.
The old civilizations of the world such as Greek, Arab, and Persian civilizations have made great contributions to the advancement of knowledge. The pillars erected by these cultures are the foundations upon which modern theorizing and philosophizing are built.
Hello, all ancient civilizations and investigations has impact on today life. It's difficult to explain one major investigation because all big investigations based on many small ones so in this case each small is important for big one and all investigations in a life connected to each other.
Indian sub-continent was one of the richest in the world and had a tradition of Engineering and architecture, advanced mathematics (Invention of zero), astronomy and astrology), navigation techniques for the oceans, sophisticated textile industry, exquisite pottery, advanced agriculture and literature including a strong tradition of poetry.
- The Sumerians of Iraq were the first to invent the art of writing, architecture, medicine, agriculture and produce the first epic literature of Gilgamesh. As Samuel Kramer wrote in one of his books- History begins in Sumer. Amir
The early man's discovery of agriculture and the domestication of animals has led to the great advancement in food technology which we now enjoy today. More so, his discovery of fire contributed tremendously to the heating systems which we now have
A series of great transformations in human history occurred in ancient Near East, such as the distribution of modern humans (Homo sapiens) after out of Africa, the emergence of villages, beginning of agriculture, social complexity, early craft specialisation and long distance trade, the emergence of pottery, stamp seal, counting system, development of pyro-technology, formation of urban societies, evolution of writing, the emergence of cities and states, and so on. The ancient Near East played the most important role for these great transformations especially in the prehistoric period during the 10th to 4th millennium BC. During the following 3rd to 1st millennium BC, other great transformations, such as organization of city and territorial states, invention of glass-working, appearance of monotheism, invention of first alphabet etc. were also executed in Near East and its around.
