A management innovation represents a marked departure from traditional management principles, processes, and practices (or a departure from customary organizational forms that significantly alters the way the work of management is performed). Because the potential ambit of management innovation is quite broad, it follows that any management innovation must be defined, convincingly, before it can be measured.

I agree with Olivieer Serrat. You need to define what you mean by management innovation. If you look at GEM research thay define some aspects of innovativeness, but I am not sure they are management innovations.
More questions: If we look at the functions of management
1. Planning
2.Organising
3. Staffing
4Directing
5. Controlling
Can these management f(x) be the measure of management innovation taking into account that improvement in these will change the ordinary operation and doings of the managers? Changes or improvement in these ways of planning, organising....won't they imply management innovations?
