I suggest taking a different approach to your classes: one where students are more active. These are usually known as Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Team-Based Learning (TBL). Both of this approaches have shown very positive results, especially for STEM courses. They have even been applied at Primary and High Schools.

If it is possible for your subject replace lectures by exercises designed to allow ‘learning from experience’. Again, if possible, make the exercises fun, encourage participation, allow the student to seek advice from their neighbour if stuck. Perhaps get each student to research a sub-topic to present to the class.

First and foremost the teacher herself/himself be a student. The point where you think that you are their to teach a students, rather than sharing and exchanging knowledge, we ourselves shut the door for making quality students. Secondly, the process of unlearning and learning is very important to produce quality students.

The professor is a lighthouse for students, they will see as much as he illuminates them. In order to be good professors, we have to explain them in practical and theoretical the importance of acquiring knowledge about a particular field. In other words, we need to give them a better view, a better vision to understand that knowledge is the only real fortune.

Since any years a change in the education system is needed and required: more us of the technology in the class: virtual classroom, social network as Facebook. The individual work of the student is completed with the team work and the theoretical teaching of the teacher is complete/replace by the practical teaching.
