What are the determination points of the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength?

Three points: the yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and elongation. What is the relationship between these point and microstructure

For the differentiation between yield strength and tensile strength you need to remember, when material is being deformed the onset of plastic deformation usually taken as 0.02 % is called yield point of the material or the yield strength.

And ultimate tensile strength refers to the maximum limit of the stress which a material can sustain without necking or aprreciable fracture.

And as far as microstructure is concerned it is varies on the fabrication of the material. But you can have an idea by this, "as we go on refining microstructure the strength of the material increases".
