Optical Remote sensing data based indices like Normalized difference water index(NDWI), modified NDWI, Normalized Pond Index and Normalized Turbidity Index will be required for Wetland Mapping. This calls for medium resolution optical data in green, red, MIR and SWIR bands (I suggest Landsat 7 or 8).
NDVI and MNDWI combined together can discriminate vegetation within wetlands.
You can add further dimension to your study if you can use Microwave Radar data in conjunction to the optical data, to determine the density of vegetation and its condition as well.
Data validation and Accuracy assessment requires field visits (to assess your Maps accuracy w.r.t ground reality at that instant of time) or inter-comparison of results from optical and microwave data or both combined. Wetlands are very dynamic ecosystems and change constantly. It is important that validation is done within few days of acquiring satellite imagery.

An answer given by the Rohit Pradhan is perfect one. In addition to that you can use hyper spectral data for the analysis. You can collect signatures of wetlands and by using hyper spectral data you can analyze the same.
