I believe many urban climatic matters could be solved if the buildings could be inspired from nature, not just mimicking them but performing as such. Any ideas?
One of the most recent ideas, about what you are pointing out, is borrowing the nature's processes instead of the nature's shapes. Then, architects should use computer programs and relevant softwares to help them in building new paradigms for architecture.

Elements of the natural world can be incorporated into post-modern architecture to great advantage. This is seen, for example, in the wind-catchers (bâdgir) used by Persians. When phenomena from the natural world are incorporated in man-made construction, it is called biomimicry. A related concept is organic architecture which is a philosophy of architecture that seeks harmony with the natural world. Perhaps, one could start reading books on organic architecture — “The Philosophy of Organic Architecture” by Figueroa and “Organic Architecture Beyond Frank Lloyd Wright” by Green.
Nature is the richest source of inspiration for architects. Biomimicry books on architecture include the following: (1) Biomimicry in Architecture by Pawlyn, (2) Architecture Follows Nature-Biomimetic Principles for Innovative Design (Biomimetics) by Mazzoleni, and (3) ARCHITECTURE without architecture: Biomimicry design by Ginatta.
