Assuming the compensator is a power electronics based device (e.g. a STATCOM), what are its main limitations to achieve the ideal characteristics, e.g. error-less reference current tracking?
Also, how are these limitations related to the applications that the compensators are utilized for? For example, are the limitations of pure reactive compensator different than those of non-sinusoidal current compensator?

Hello Amin!
To compensate non-sinusoidal currents you need more bandwith and to compensate pure reactive power you need more power. Both of them have the natural difficulty of tracking a sinusoidal shape reference.
