I'm a final year mechanical engineering student. I've chosen IoT as a field of study for my final mechanical engineering project. However, I'm unsure of how to go about this and how can I use a mechanical engineering idea and incorporate with IoT and conduct a research.
Any suggestions or guidance that someone likes to share?

IoT can be used in process control systems and advanced manufacturing systems.
Some application of IoT in that field could be:
Connected cars: monitoring sensor (aerodynamics, suspensions, batteries, environment conditions, proximity of objects, etc), control system information, etc.
Gas and Oil: control and monitos motors, valves, pumps, and other traditional components.
Industry: fabrication processes (creation of machines, parts, and structures), improve manufacturing processes, enhance product quality and reliability.
Communications: communicate with the product and production line, generate raw data (big data) to analyse and improve processes.
I mean 4.0 Industry, automation of traditional manufacturing and industrial practices.
The management of machines, improving communication and efficiency through the use of IoT.
A broad topic Industry 4.0 has the various application of IoT in the mechanical engineering discipline.
