For global gridded datasets, you can have a look at the Climate Research Unit (CRU) data which are based on measured meteorological parameters. You might also want to look at ERA5 reanalysis data from the Copernicus project which has a snow-parameter alongside lots of other met-data. There is also the GlobSnow database from ESA which produce snow data estimated from satellites, although it is the Northern hemisphere only.
Thank you for the answers! Data is needed on a country basis which makes the process a little bit harder because data is not uniform across all countries or lacking. I might suggest relying on coordinates since most complete sources are institutes that strictly focus on climate.
