Key stone species has a big role in ecosystem function. All the species being affected by keystone need attention so that keystone species can really help in proper functioning of the system.
Here in Chile we have a very good example with managment of the keystone specie Loco (Concholepas concholepas),that is a benthic gastropod with high commercial value, and is now regulated in a TURF's system by artisanal fisherman unions.
