The Kohistan island arc and Ladakh island arc in NW Himalayan region are commonly considered as one island arc that has been separated into two segments due to uplift of the Nanga Parbat-Haramosh massif. As new radiometric data become available for Kohistan, there is growing realization that the Kohistan arc formation may have been initiated before the Cretaceous. Jagoutz et al. (2018, Geol. Soc. London, Spec. Pub.) recently reported 155 Ma U-Pb zircon ages from a granite pluton in the Kohistan Batholith. Since the granite is apparently intrusive in arc-related pillow lavas, the arc magmatism may well have been initiated before 150 Ma. For comparison, I would like to know the oldest ages from the Ladakh sector of the Kohistan-Ladakh arc, and also from the eastern Karakoram in India. Can anyone help?
