I agree with Irshad. In my research I found that it is also important for teachers to use original authors of such culturally relevant content and not foreign authors who may have a bias toward a specific culture. I am included some of my work in this area that I hope would be helpful for you:

Such type of Pedagogy is that the teacher apply in habits/her teaching in a classroom having multi cultural backgrounds. In such Pedagogy the teacher has to teach according to the cultural backgrounds of the different students have in the class room. When teaching wit cultural relevant pedagogy, cultural responsive pedagogy and Cultural sustaining pedagogy the end results not only the students know about their cultural values and norms but also to preserve the language and linguistics and language of the culture.
Regarding the difference some people use the first two interchangeable while the cultural sustainable pedagogy is to make the students able to preserve the culture(Language,Literate,Linguistics). While the cultural relevant is to teach according to the diverse cultures the learners have in the class. Some define the cultural responsive pedagogy is to identify and polish the students culture as it is student centered pedagogy

Local cultures must be the voice in every form of pedagogy if it is to be successful. If the pedagogy of learners are fused or directed towards another cultural domains, then we prepare our students to fit a new society and pull off, as it were, the cloth of their cultural heritage which will be the 'stupidest' thing every society can do!
I strongly believe that the following should be considered in guiding decisions relating to such an inquiry : 1) Awareness of the relation between home and target cultures 2) A critical confrontation with facts about a foreign culture rather than the mere consumption of information related to the target culture (C2) 3) Opportunities to relate the C2 with the C1 (What is it like in your country?) Unfavorable comparisons 4) Make the learners go beyond mere surface impressions and engage them in activities whereby stereotypes are challenged and their world view is altered or defamiliarized 5) To foster critical thinking, acknowledge and respect diversity and otherness
