While solving for spiral path motion parameters with rudder, what is the Cd delta value do we use? I am facing an issue with the equations mentioned in Feitian Zhang et al (2014), as the force and moment balance equations do not become equal to zero for any value of Cddelta. Requesting some guidance on this, please.
Although your question is very unclear and very vague in nature. Here is my answer based on inference I made from this question :
Steady state simulations need all hydrodynamic coefficients derived from CFD. In order to do so, you need to run steady state CFD simulations for various velocities and fit the values using Least Square method. When doing spiralling motion, you need to also include the side angle and find respective coefficients in the CFD simulations. Then from fitted curve, you get all CD, CDo, CL, CLo, CM, CMo and other required coefficients used in motion equations. Added mass coefficients need to be determined by semi empirical approaches.
