A Facebook friend recently posted a link to a highway construction announcement of a road closure for overhead bridge removal, which is common to avoid dropping debris on motorists. Many other friends made general comments about possible alternate routes during the construction. I commented that when I worked for that agency back in the 1980s, the policy was to never close highway. I was shocked to get a response from the agency. While I thought it was good that the agency is tracking comments, it bothered me in two ways: first, invasion of privacy issues; second, the response back was very condescending. ("We are closing the road for safety reasons", which was pretty obvious since they are removing overhead bridges.)
