The shape is identical to a clam with perfect symmetry on either side of the median (middle). On the left was the opening of the "foot" of the animal that attached itself to the ocean floor or a rock. That is true, nevertheless the item is made entirely of metal (bronze). The surface has no lines, it is plain. In the bottom part of the item there is a rivet for a handle. Thus, it cannot be anything of organic origin. Nonetheless, thank you for your reply

Shortly in English: most probably we deal with a Roman origin shell-shaped horse harness fitting. They are rare in Barbarian Europe although their number is getting bigger. The melted bronze comes from another rivet.

Jaki jest rozmiar tego przedmiotu (czy skala jest centymetrowa czy półcentymetrowa)? Chętnie zobaczyłbym drugą stronę, ale na tę chwilę mogę powiedzieć na 90%, że jest to okucie muszlowate rzędu końskiego, rzymskie (import), duża rzadkość w Barbaricum, choć ostatnio jest tego nieco więcej. Opracowanie polskich znalezisk jest w druku, w tomie "MIgration Period Between the Oder and Vistula", red. A. Bursche, A. Zapolska.
