It is complex but simple at the same time. Let us pick up the simple path and forget about Derrida's, Barthes and Foucault's  complex simplicity.

How do we know absence? We know it because it is the opposite of presence and vice versa.

So in order to juxtapose absence or presence you know what you need to do-just make the place full of presence, crammed with every architectural design of your creation and vice versa. Have you ever went to a desolate place and felt the heavy presence of something: spirits, voices etc..

Have you ever been in the middle of a crowd and felt so lonely? Opposites identify each other.

The order of nature is of course a balance and a harmony but the artist, scientist and especially the philosopher usually play on this fundamental notion of dichotomy.

@Francois. Juxtapose. That's the word I needed. Juxtapose and balance. So maybe this is a process - understanding and appreciating solitude purely because one goes through or understands chaos. From what you say, in terms of a physical manipulation, it could be done in terms of a journey maybe? Mimicking the idea that opposites identify each other. Starting with one idea and ending up with its opposite. A spatial journey that kind of plays around with the idea using natural elements and shows that in spite of the differences, solitude and chaos exist because of one another.

to my mind chaos is the opposite of solitude. Let us start from the basics. Chaos is not natural because nature as you well know is harmonious. We humans create Chaos and nothing else. When I see chaos, I see presence-human presence. When I see harmony and order-that sophisticated level where you do not notice it at first (like in mother nature), I see and feel solitude. So again, my advice is simple-always remember the basics.
