The role of ICT and Moodle plays an important role in the universities ... And many MOOC courses offered by the universities helps to be apart topper in the rankings
I think the education is gradually moving towards more of applied knowledge than theoretical knowledge - hence the perspective of applied sciences, applied art, applied economics, etc. is becoming the fundamental basis on which the curriculum is being framed, instructions being imparted and students being groomed. A blended mechanism that mixes application (work in industry or apprenticeship) and online+offline delivery of theoretical models and ideas will be the right mix for teaching at university.
It would give you an idea if you watch, a video of one of the best physics teacher i knew who could bring theoretical concepts to life with practical application @Walter Lewin - https://youtu.be/4a0FbQdH3dY
I believe it depends on the teaching topic and student's level. Equipping students with 21 century skills will meet their needs and to be qualified for workforce.
The university should be up to date with the latest happenings in the world and the society in particular. However, Mr Azam and other researchers have given their views from their own perspective
