I’m an engineering student and would like some suggestions for my current project.
I would like to simulate the temperature of a liquid contained in a box over time. This fluid is heated by a constant heat source but also cooled by a heat exchanger and by an air flow which cools the outside of the box. We can also think about the radiation of the box over to its environment but I can add that later.
Can someone suggest me the best way to simply obtain the temperature as a function of time considering all these elements ? Which software should I use for that type of simulation ?

There are several books that give solutions for the time evolution of temperature profiles for a number of special cases. In addition, similar books for the solution of the diffusion equation in mass transfer can be used for thermal problems with the appropriate substitution of variables. Your situation might be approximated as one where the boundary of the box experiences a constant heat flux. One such book is Crank's "The Mathematics of Diffusion" - where solutions for the mass transfer case can be immediately applied to heat transfer with the proper replacement of variables. Carslaw and Jaeger's "Conduction of Heat in Solids" is another example of a book containing myriad solutions to various conduction problems in time and space.
Software that does finite element or finite volume calculations (or other numerical approaches) like Fluent might be useful for you.
