I have been using ImageJ for oocyte/cell counting. As far as I know the general steps for oocyte counting with this program is converting the image to 8-bits, then adjusting a threshold and converting to binary. Adding a watershed is also usefull.

Is there any other software which provides better results (more precise cell count, area and perimeter measurements)?
