My research project is focusing on how social interaction influence the self-management of chronic disease by baby boomers.
I would like to do a mixed methods study with a case study.
Could anyone suggest any robust ways to flesh out this methodology?
Peta - perhaps a bit more information is needed. Why mixed methods - why case study? There are many different forms of case study - so do you mean quantitative or qualitative case study?
By social interaction - do you mean 'social media' and/or personal face-to-face interaction?

On re-reading, I can see clarity is lacking! Since posting, I've had a conversation with a colleague and have landed on transcendental phenomenology. I was toying with either a qualitative case study or TP - I'm sure TP is the right 'fit' for the project.
Investigation of the impact of social interactions (face to face) on self-management of chronic disease of baby boomers, using social learning theory and transcendental phenomenology.
The social settings i'm interested in are long-interacting social groups (ie coffee mornings, community morning teas, university of the third age, mens shed). lots of health information (some right, some horribly wrong) is shared in these conversations. I am interested in how this translates into action.
I'd like to interview members of groups from different areas - a low SES area, an affluent area and a rural area.
Thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I suggest a correlation of the two variables if you could quantify it with standard scales.
