Your question is quite pertinent, however, since DSM-5 was launched 5 years ago it is quite improbable to find any etiological updates, specially, regarding prevalence rates because longitudinal studies usually require long-term prospective followup. This is particularly intricate due the fact that the diagnosis of schizophrenia in childhood is problematical regarding differential diagnosis.

Non American studies on the issue would be hard to find since DSM is a nosological manual circumscribed to North America, as you may know, existing other references like ICD or PDM which receive more widespread attention at West and East or the CCMD in China.
