As a rule, the professor offers his student the research project connected with his own research area. And, as a rule, the professor has more than one student.
On the other hand, each student will eventually have his own graduation work (Bachelor's, Master's or PhD).
In this context, is it effective and justified to connect two or more students to the same scientific research?.. For a project and for the students?

P.S. Of course, it is necessary to take into account the students psychological compatibility, the similarity of their research interests, a willingness to work for the team, not only for themselves, etc.
Usually, the work which performed by group of students is better since each one can correct mistakes of other. For example, when I program in MATLAB most of the time I spend on the correction of the mistakes instead on the programing itself.
In my opinion, the group consisting of three students is the best choice.
