It has been more than half a century since the concept of Cybersecurity Operation Center (SOC) made its way into publication in 1980. Throughout these years there have been many developments in the computing sciences and other fields that use the same acronym SOC, and it may even be used in fields which will be invented in the future. The integration of Cybersecurity Operation Center to every sector is inevitable, and the usage of search engines will continue to grow. Therefore, for better communication and clarity among the internet community and for the search engines, it is recommendable to use CyOC instead of SOC as an acronym for Cybersecurity Operation Center.

In this paper the infant days of the internet and other areas that are using the acronym SOC are discussed. The integration of Cybersecurity Operation Center to every sector is inevitable, and the usage of search engines is growing. In order to promote better communication and clarity, it is recommendable to use CyOC as acronym (instead of SOC) for Cybersecurity Operation Center.

Yes, Prof. Dr. Shafagat Mahmudova the use of CyOC has become prevalent in most developed countries.
As readers are probably aware, SOC is an abbreviation of "Security Operation Centre" not "Cybersecurity Operation Centre" (that would be COC). I do not agree with the term CyOC, as that would seem to separate cyber risk from other organizational security categories. Experience would suggest security is better managed as a whole rather than fragmented.

In my opinion, there is no gain at all in changing the name of centers that have well defined tasks. Agree with Christopher C Kelly in his comment. No need to do so.
I agree with Christopher C Kelly . SOC has a larger role than only Cyber Security. In my view, the word "Cyber" is overused. In Demeke Gebresenbet Bayyou paper, the main argument seems to be the overuse of SOC in other areas, especially outside this environment (e.g. System on Chip). But this is the case for most 3 letter acronyms, in my view not a strong enough argument to redefine it.
Unfortunately I am also of the opinion that we often use new acronyms for old ideas, leading to publications in a "new" area, which is really not new. This tends to cause confusion within the industry on management level. At least in my environment, SOC is an established term, especially in industry.
