Any recent research on whether and how teachers or lecturers are using Facebook, Twitter or other social media plattforms in order to inform their students about homework, sickness or other relevant topics?
At the University of Düsseldorf, Germany a lecturer is informing his students about homework exclusively over Twitter in order to make them use it.

In America, use of Twitter this way would probably not be allowed because it would violate the privacy of the students...because strangers would be able to see their class work, at least if they reply to the teacher..
According to Dr. Michael, you can use a dedicated account... I guess the research or teaching objectives will not be mixed with personal account, and would yield similar results.Unless the purpose is to monitor all activities and get students attention always..
Facebook is used as a professional tool where students can experiment and present their own production. They have an agency "CommCommunication Agency " as in the real word during 3 years and will be ready to face the professional world.
Goals: Dissemination of knowledge/productive collaborative or individual work/Context of freedom with responsability/ formal learning experience/be competent and effective-social media.
