I recommend following the protocol of the OECD 239 test guideline for rearing honey bee workers in a laboratory setting. However, you need to adapt the feeding according to the requirements of honey bee queens (i.e. royal jelly only).
The problem with RJ supply is that there are no quality standards. Ovber 90% of the RJ exports come from China, so you have a high risk to obtain contaminated material which would probably affect the outcome of your experiments. If possible, look for a local RJ supplier and order organic quality.
