Re: the UK compulsory education system. Is it about time to acknowldge the years at school by awarding school leaving certificates?

School leavers in the UK are valued by the number and grade of GCSE exams they have achieved. There is no recognition of their other achievements whilst at school as there is in the USA for example (graduation etc.). Is it about time that students are awarded a high school achievement certificate as well or instead of, the burden of formal, national exams?
