R generally will help you to analyze data easier and make sense of your results in a helpful way. Python needs efficient understating and practice to be able to use for analytics and much more for development.
If you plan to implement any machine learning to classify your data, then python is optimum, otherwise, R is much easier for that job.
Python is much more powerful language than R, since you can use machine learning libraries and forecast weather or apply clustering, classification, predictions, etc. If you have experience with other programming languages then you should try python, otherwise stay with R.
