I've two variables in data set. One is continuous variable and another is qualitative with two options or values. Can i use Point-biserial correlation coefficient two determine the relationship between two variables ? And for calculating Point-biserial correlation coefficient should i use 1 and 0 as the values of two options of qualitative variable. Please suggest your opinion. And what will be the acceptance level of Point-biserial correlation coefficient in research paper to determine relationship between two variables ?
Yes, that is the perfect test. It is equivalent to the Pearson, so you use the same acceptance level

The point-biserial correlation is simply a "short-cut" version of the Pearson product-moment correlation that makes hand calculation a little easier. The regular Pearson correlation will give exactly the same numeric result (which I think is what Andrew was suggesting). And, it doesn't really matter how you code the dichotomous variable, so long as the two values you use are different.
