Please I need experts that could help me identify this plant. A lofty climber with gourd-like fruits. Fruits have 6 ridges; seeds like those of melon, non-endospermic.
Thanks for your responses. I have got just this photo of fruit. However, I was informed the leaves are simple, alternate with aroma when crushed. It's a lofty climber, could reach 100 m and above. Seeds are like those of melon and non-endospermic. Fruit up to 15 cm long, ribbed.
Thanks for your response - have been waiting for your answer. The fruit sure contains melon-like seeds. I cut it and saw for myself and that was what led me to think Cucurbitaceae and probably Luffa sp., as the fruit resembles L. acutangular to an extent but then the leaves look different - they're not lobed and the plant itself lacks tendril. Am confused really...
Felix I think that you did identified it as from the Cucurbita family likely Luffa and I agree as it does resemble Luffa. This what we can do with the very little information that you are giving us. if it is important for you please post additional info and we can try helping you.
To proper identification of the plant , photo of a small branch of that particular plant with flower and may be sometimes with fruit must required. That will be perfect identification. Another, if whole plants photos will be provide , its will be more helpful for confirm identification.
It is not accurate and it is difficult difficult to identify a plant only by a fruit. If you could show a picture of the flower and leaves than we could work on it or may be of the entire plant
