I believe it depends on what you're willing to verify. Each problem use a different technique to find the answers for the hypothesis you raised but as an introductory book I recommend Andy Field - Discovering Statistics Using IBM SPSS. There you'll find several tips very useful to beginners.
There's also a really beginner's book, The Manga Guide to Statistics (Shin Takahashi) that I read several years ago and kind of liked it.
I believe both could be great choices to start your journey on statistics but I think Andy Field can be a better choice because it's an applied book. The second is more general.
