Recent years many commercial antistripping additives entered the market for reducing moisture damage in asphalt pavements. However, hydrated lime is well accepted and proven antistripping additive for asphalt concrete. Recent studies have shown that in addition to the antistripping effect, hydrated lime also acts as active filler, antioxidant, and fracture resistant in the asphalt mixture.
