The aim should not be to come up with a sweet sounding topic.Instead ,a good topic is one which speaks to the knowledge gaps in your subject area.As such,I would urge you to first of all do a thorough literature review in your field of study in order to identify the knowledge gaps and then craft your topic around those gaps.Initially, you start off with a working topic and refine it as the study unfolds.
First of all, thanks for your kind comment on this. Second, I am a master's student actually and my thesis will be my first serious research. So I need a guideline in order to help me go in an appropriate way. By the way, I'm open to any advice regarding this.
Thanks. You need to read academic article on pricing.Your focus should be on identifying theoretical gaps in terms of the aspects of pricing that are not covered in previous studies. You can also look at business sector gaps ,in terms of the sectors of business that are not covered by the literature and then look at the extent to which pricing issues in the sector of business you want to study are addressed in the literature.Look at geographical gaps in terms of the extend to which pricing issues in geographical area you want to study have been addressed in previous studies.Once you have identified the aspects of pricing ,business sectors and geographical areas that are not covered in previous studies ,you then develop your topic around those gaps, because the essense of doing research is not to repeat what has been done previously ,but to generate new knowledge and bridge existing gaps.
