Article Internet of Things (IoT): A Review of Enabling Technologies,...
After thorough study of the paper, I found the following attention-seeking points:
The figure 3 depicting the IoT Protocol stack mentions IEEE 1095.1 which is closely related to IEEE 1095:2012 which is again a standard for synchronous motors and generators rating at 5 MVA for hydraulics (see: https://standards.ieee.org/standard/1095-2012.html).
The citation no. 18 is mentioned at line 11, para 3, section 2 of the paper. The paper cited talks about the research directions in the field of Internet of Things which was an invited talk of John A. Stankovic in February 2014. Thus, a four year old paper (like every other citation) has been cited in 2018 paper which claims to highlight the current open issues and challenges.
How these authors have managed to publish old and not-so-novel review article of 23 pages in the Elsevier's Special Issue of the Journal of Computer Networks? Is it just because of the Table 3 which show the open issues and challenges and yet cites the majority of the more than or equal to 4 year old research papers?
