I am well familiar with "surface plot", but not so with "density plot" in Matlab. Is there any simple technical way or command to convert "surface plot" into "data density plot" directly in Matlab?
May I get guiding books and materials in this particular context?

I am afraid that if there is any direct conversion of surface to density plot by single line command but as long as you have your surface plot variables in workspace then following functions, discussion thread, file exchange and documentations might be useful for generating the required plot:
