You can certainly do Raman on MWCNTs to learn about their G/D ratio. In most cases MWCNTs are highly defective so it makes very little sense to talk about them as metals or semiconductors like we do with SWCNTs. Their electronic structure is a mess and in general behave as poorly conductive metals. However, this is not true for double or triple walled CNTs, which can be produced with very high quality.
