The anatomy books on head neck and face are no doubt excellent but there is no orientation for the students regarding the oncoming syllabus which is related to dentistry. There is a lag in understanding of the subjects and correlating the facts.
The manner in which we overcome this problem is to bring student in their first 2 years into the clinics in a limited way with a programme of Intercalated Clinically Related Activity (ICRAs)- so that they can relate paper to clinical learning
