In many cases Who need gastric lavage , I come across with patients who have had rhinoplasty. Can this procedure cause complications in this group of patients?
Of course, it can lead to complications. The repair can be lost in some cases. I guess it's better to do the lavage via an orogastric tube in cases of patients with rhinoplasty
In the immediate postoperative period instrumentation within the nasal cavity should be avoided if possible. However if the rhinoplasty is not recent, I am not aware of any contraindication to introducing a NG tube for drainage.
Certainly wouldn’t consider doing this immediately following a septorhinoplasty, not that you are likely to cause too much structural damage. No reason why you can’t when things have settled
I think, we usually perform septorhinoplasty and treat the infeior turbinate and septal deformity. Accept immidiate postoperative period, there is no contraindication. On the contrary ng insertion can be even easier after procedure.
Dear Dr., Septorhinoplasty is an elective procedure an u can treat any gastrointestinal diseases before surgery. It is difficult to touch the patient nose because of pain and putting NG tube is harmful
In general, gastric lavage is not routinely recommended for the treatment of poisoning or overdose, as there is limited evidence of its effectiveness and it may cause harm in some cases. The use of activated charcoal or other interventions may be more appropriate in many cases.
If gastric lavage is deemed necessary in a patient who has had rhinoplasty, it is important to take into account the patient's individual medical history and the specifics of their rhinoplasty procedure. In some cases, the use of an alternative route of administration, such as an orogastric or nasoenteric tube, may be considered to minimize the risk of complications.
